A shiatsu session lasts about an hour. The receiver lies on a mat on the floor, or you may sit on a chair. You remain fully clothed, but it is best to wear comfortable clothing such as long sleeved shirt and loose trousers.
Shiatsu is a holistic therapy, that is to say, I look on you as a total person, not just a sore back, or a bad knee, for instance, but a
Whole Person who always has strengths as well as weaknesses. So a first session always starts by taking a short history, so that I can better assess your needs. I will then work using hands and fingers to give firm but gentle pressure to key areas of your body, which you will find a surprisingly powerful, but enjoyable experience.
After a session you should feel relaxed but energised. We can then re-assess your condition and discuss whether you would benefit from further sessions, how often and so on. Once a week or once a fortnight is usually best, but you can also opt for once a month. The choice is yours and I will not pressurise you.
